Computers for Dummies

Fratres:

How would I go about adding RAM to my home PC? My machine's got 128Mb of RAM, and I've been told that adding another 128 would substantially improve system performance (in an unrelated note, Whitney's been told that drinking fewer than 17 beers in an evening will improve his performance in another venue). I went online to look at options for adding RAM, and it appears to require that I open up the CPU and do some rejiggeration. True, and if so, how hard is this to do?

Politics Crap

I was pleasantly surprised, though mildly skeptical, to hear the President propose efforts to reduce our dependence on foreign oil in last night's State of the Union. As it turns out, the skepticism seems to be well-placed, as noted here.

Stereotypical Bush-bashing aside (it's far too easy, frankly - like making fun of Teejay's haircut), I'm interested in your thoughts on alternative energy. I've come to believe that reducing our dependence on fossil fuels is one of the most important things our generation can do for those that follow us, for a variety of economic, environmental, and national security reasons. Thoughts?
