Cue the Arcadia

I once knew this guy. His name was Ethan. People called him Herb, and it was funny. He was very politically-minded, and though it was always apparent on which side of the fence he stood, every Election Day he'd encourage you -- the folks from every tick along the political spectrum -- to get out there and vote. That was his thing. Like clockwork every year. And then he moved to Florida and now he just doesn't give a damn. Oh, he still cares about politics. He just doesn't give a damn about you people. But you should probably go vote, anyway.

Good times in the 'Burg last weekend, except for losing to friggin' JMU on a late field goal. Lammies of all ages turned out to reprove the adage "It's not how old you are, it's how old you are and you're still smuggling airplane bottles of Jim Beam into W&M football games???"

Ethan still cares -- he's still politically and environmentally minded and still lets me bait him into meaningless arguments. You may try it too. Here are a few ways to bait Ethan out of his warm-weathered shell:

1) Ask him if he reads the Wall Street Journal.
2) Answer his long, well-thought-out response with, "Whatever Mr. Subject Matter Expert, I still don't believe in Global Warming. It's a scam by the lefty media to promote junk-science."

It works.

He hasn't called in a while, I wonder why...

I was 0 for 5 in my local election yesterday and the only bright spot was that I did confirm that the paper record of my electronic vote printed out correctly - fuck diebold and the rest of the auditless e-voting fucking fucks. And Paci, the wall street journal sucks really really bad. I can't believe that you, who I one time thought was rational, logical and intelligent, actually buy into that drivel. It's laughable. By the way, your new vinyl siding looks nice.

Which drivel? The Global Warming drivel or the whole WSJ?
